company structures

Google is an international digital service that has acquired over 140 different company's, some vertical, others horizontally. Horizontal company's include services like Blogger and YouTube which integrate digitally with each other. Some others are just absorbed and added to existing products. As of current, Google owns over one-hundred and forty-five different company's.

The BBC (or British Broadcasting corporation) is a service run under a Royal Charter, a set of protocols the BBC holds to. As such the company does not acquire other company's and incorporate them instead deciding to when necessary creating new services in-house and proceeding to expand outward. Different areas of the company are subsidized to provide the funding for projects and to support the main services provided.

creative assembly is a Games developer based in Horsham who specialize in the real-time strategy genre, with the award-winning series "total war." Creative assembly was brought out by Sega in 2005, Whilst real information exists on the structure of the studio, it is probably a vertical hierarchy. What is remarkable is that they have manged to keep their autonomy despite other British studios being absorbed and/or closed.
